Tiger Drains 91-footer, But We Expected More

Is Tiger Woods mellowing with age? One would certainly think so after watching him drop this 91-foot putt Friday afternoon in the WGC Cadillac Championship in Miami.

The Tiger of old would have shown off his signature fist pump and perhaps even run into his caddy’s arms and do the procedure all over again. (Think Stevie Williams, 2005 Masters.) Or at the very least, a Hale Irwin run along the gallery ropes.

Of course, Woods was 7-over at the time on Friday when he canned this bomb on the 203-yard fourth hole, the third toughest hole of the tournament. So no overly enthusiastic celebration was expected, although typically Tiger has used these moments to spark some kind of charge up the leaderboard.

Still, what exactly do you do when you drop a no-brainer putt from one edge of the green to another? Look stunned, perhaps, but we expect more from Tiger, no matter which side of the cut he is on.

Woods did card a one-over 73 and is 5-over for the tournament with the leaders (updated) at 1-under.
