There’s a lot of talk already that North Dakota State matches up well with Oklahoma and the historical volatility of No. 12 vs. No. 5 could go in the Bison’s favor.
But then the Bison could run into problems trying to get past San Diego State or New Mexico State.
On fivethirtyeight.com, the tournament forecasting model by Nate Silver and Matthew Conlen, the number crunchers the Bison a 15 percent chance to make the Sweet 16. Then just a 2 percent chance to make the Elite Eight and a less than 1 percent chance at the Final Four.
Actor Josh Duhamel posted on his Facebook site his bracket. The Minot, N.D., native has the Bison winning two games before being stopped by ‘Zona. Several of his nearly 1,000 comments on his bracket share his faith in NDSU winning a couple games.
Here’s Duhamel’s full bracket:
Levi Hall, a merchandiser for Walsh Grain Terminal in Park River, N.D., has the Bison advancing to the Sweet 16. Here’s part of his West Region bracket.
Says Hall on his reasoning:
- If they can keep the tempo slow I think it knocks OU out of rhythm from 3 and out of transition (they’re two strengths). Bjorkland will have a big game with no real inside presence for OU and once they start to double he shows off his ability to kick out from the post.
- San Diego St has been struggling offensively to put points on the board lately. I don’t think it’s completely unreasonable.
- Arizona beats NDSU handily. They’re a very good team.
